 Over 2,500 new hotel rooms will be inaugurated this year in Bucharest, and analysts expect Romania’s Capital in 2008 to continue to be appealing for several international hotel chains, according to the latest survey conducted by the real estate consulting company Colliers International, cited by The Money Channel TV.
With investments over EUR 74 M and with four important hotel transactions, 2007 was the first year when the market became important in the field of hotels. According to Colliers, in 2007, the offer had a slight growth as against the previous year, by around 4 per cent, but a significant growth is expected in 2008, following important inaugurations, such as Rin Grand Hotel (1,400 rooms), Ramada Plaza (302 rooms) and Radisson SAS (424 rooms) during the first quarter of 2008.
“The major hotel investments in Bucharest will focus on four and five star real estate properties, which indicates a trend towards the emergence of hotels with more than 150 rooms, located in easily accessible places, particularly for businessmen”, according to Colliers representatives.
